Podcast Tracker

A podcast library that refreshes Spotify catalog metadata and tracks listening progress recorded in the application.

The problem

I wanted one place to follow podcast releases and track progress through shows without maintaining separate lists.

What I built

Podcast Tracker combines show and episode metadata with subscriptions, completion status, ratings and notes. Users can record progress, mark backlogs complete and return to previously dropped shows.

Integration design

The application uses an AppSync GraphQL API, Lambda functions and DynamoDB. Scheduled updates refresh catalog metadata, while application-owned data stores subscriptions and listening progress. A demo mode makes the interface explorable without access to a personal account.

API boundaries

The Spotify proxy uses caching and rate limiting, and schema-generated types connect the GraphQL API to the frontend. Catalog refreshes are separate from listening progress entered in this application; this is not a claim of Spotify playback-history synchronization. The implementation includes demo mode; the former public destination is currently unavailable. Personal-account workflows require authentication.
