Why I built it
I wanted to manage my personal finances without maintaining increasingly complex spreadsheets. Finance Tracker brings transaction imports, accounts, categories and reporting into one application.
What it does
The application supports importing and categorizing transactions, reconciling account balances, and reviewing budgets, cash flow and net worth. It also includes views for loans, investments, subscriptions and financial goals.
Implementation
The version described here uses a React and TypeScript frontend and Python backend. Import workflows include preview and mapping steps, while reporting presents the underlying transactions through account, category and time-based views.
Project context
This is an independent personal project, not a claim of external customer adoption. The original 2022 project, the later rebuild and any AtlasOS finance application should be described as separate versions unless their lineage is explicitly documented.
Version boundaries
This page describes the React and Python rebuild. The original 2022 application and AtlasOS finance workflows are separate versions; a continuous development timeline and the maintenance status of the standalone application are not established here. The original portfolio cover is retained as an illustration; it does not establish a continuous history between these versions.
