The project
EmberVault is a local-first notes application built around writing, organizing and finding notes without a required account.
Storage and editing
Notes can be stored in a user-selected folder where the browser supports folder access, or in the browser's IndexedDB storage. The editor supports structured content including code blocks, tables and checklists, with tabs and split panes for working across notes.
Design decisions
I made the storage location explicit rather than treating a cloud account as the default. Search, tags, outlines and restore workflows are designed around that local workspace.
Compatibility and recovery
Folder access depends on browser support and permission. IndexedDB storage belongs to the browser profile and can be cleared; it is not a backup. Keep a separate copy or export of important notes. Offline behavior has not been verified here in a clean browser, so this page makes no offline-availability guarantee.
